Students studied blind and pure contour drawing, as well as negative space and drawing shadows. Experimenting with watercolor techniques, students transformed their contour plant drawings into mixed media paintings, focusing on pattern, color and line.

Students investigated how artists, musicians and designers use deconstruction to create novel forms. They discussed the idea of Remix and Mashup, especially as used in music and TikTok. Here, students created two cardboard letters of their initials to begin the process.

Finally, students combined the new forms to create visually-pleasing sculptures that exhibited movement through space and negative space.

Students studied artists who use vehicles in their artworks: Andrea Zittel, Mark Dion, Miguel Luciana and Krzysztof Wodiczko. Students researched services and needs that would benefit their communities. They designed and built their “food trucks” as the final realization of their research.
